Do you desire to be more intuitive? Do you feel pulled in one direction by your gut feeling or an inexplicable hunch, particularly when you need to make critical decisions? Well, that is the power of intuition.

Everyone is born with intuition. However, some people are not aware that it exists, which means that they never pay attention to it. Nurturing and awakening your intuition is critical because it can help you thrive in your career, finances, relationships and life in general.

This article will give you insights on how to unblock your intuition and pay attention to it. Please keep reading.

What is Intuition?

Intuition refers to a process in the brain that enables you to make decisions without making use of analytical reasoning. Intuition gives you insight that is not readily available in the conscious mind. You can also refer to intuition as an inner voice, instinct, gut feeling, or sixth sense.

Your inner voice can help you uncover hidden knowledge about situations, places, people around you, as well as any hidden knowledge about yourself. Intuition helps to ensure that you lead a relaxed life with less anxiety, fear, and stress.

Intuition helps to ensure that you not only make better decisions, but that you also make the right choices. With that being said, intuition is that small voice that tells you to go down a particular path or to accept an opportunity. Also, intuition tells you what to be careful about, what to ignore, when to be vigilant, or even when you should stop.

With that said, you will agree with me that it is important to develop and strengthen your intuition. Below are a few tips that will enable you to tap into this powerful tool known as intuition:

1. Become more self-aware

Self-awareness refers to your ability to recognize your thoughts, feelings and behavior. What’s more, it entails knowing how your thoughts, feelings, and behavior influence you and those around you.

With that said, you are more likely to notice your inner voice when you are aware of what is going on inside you. There are various ways of improving your self-awareness including through reflection, meditation, and mindfulness.

Indulging in these activities helps to quiet your mind so that you can listen to your intuitive voice.

2. Listen without judgment

Learning to trust your intuition is paramount. You can do this by learning not to criticize or analyze everything that your instinct is telling you. Listening to your intuition non-judgmentally means that you allow it to tell you what it needs to without undermining it.

With that said, it is necessary that you not only pay attention to your intuition, but also trust it.

3. Spend time in nature

Spending time outside allows your brain to acquire and process lots of  information both on a subconscious and conscious level. What’s more, you are more likely to hear the whispers emanating from your soul when your mind is quiet and open.

Having said that, it is important that you spend time outside. Take long walks, stare at the mountains, take a walk on the beach, listen to the birds chirping, and you will certainly be able to tap into your intuition.

4. Be more discerning

Discernment refers to your ability to judge well or to obtain sharp perceptions. With that said, it is important that you learn to distinguish between paranoid and fearful thoughts from neutral and calm intuitive thinking.

In other words, it is important that you learn to differentiate fear from intuition. The difference between fear and intuition is that intuition is unemotional, peaceful and detached, while fear is vague, emotionally charged and chaotic.

5. Be creative

Creative people tend to be highly intuitive. Therefore, indulging in creative activities such as reading, writing,  journaling or drawing, just to mention, but a few, helps to quiet your mind and improve your intuition.
